The Government of the Province of Buenos Aires did another successful test of the biodiesel generated from used food oils in the electrical energy generating plant of Centrales de la Costa in Villa Gesell.

The test was done adding 1200 liters of biodiesel to the fuel that habitually is used to feed the turbines that produce the energy that daily satisfies the necessity of all Villa Gesell, part of Pinamar and the county of la Costa, supplying electrical energy to more than 60,000 inhabitants of this zone. SAN JOSÉ (AFP)—Costa Rica gets ready to start the biofuel business, that will begin to be sold on March in the gas stations as part of the effort to reduce imports of petroleum and polluting emissions, and to guarantee the “energy security” to the country.

A Costa Rican company has been successful producing fuel for around 130 suburban buses, using a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil discarded by restaurants after frying chickens and potatoes.Â

“The biodiesel industry of the biodiesel will make that in five years be unnecessary to throw in rivers or other places this type of pollutants (oils)”, said Eladio Madriz, the manager of the Energías Biodegradables firm, in the web site of the company. Leer más »

SAO PAULO (AFP)-Brazil will be headquarters of an International Conference on biofuels next week, in which it will promote its sugarcane bioethanol, its main contribution in the segment of the renewable fuels.Â

Representatives of up to 40 countries will attend the encounter, that will last a week in Sao Paulo, and is foreseen to have ministerial level. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will inaugurate it on Monday.Â
