As Indonesia is today the world’s largest producer of crude palm oil (CPO) — a desirable feedstock for biodiesel production — it has the potential to grow into a world biodiesel leader and a model for plantation sustainability.

Biodiesel has the potential to become a significant industry sector in Indonesia, supported by two of its most valuable assets: its oil palm plantations, and more importantly, its people. Indonesia currently produces approximately 20 million tons of CPO per year from 7 million hectares of oil palm plantation, of which approximately 80 percent  is exported.  Leer más »

About a year ago, the nominal prices of soybeans, corn and wheat on international markets reach historic highs of USD600, USD300 and USD500 per tonne and the cost of food derived from these primary products increased at a staggering pace. At the same time, the barrel of crude oil was breaking historic threshold reaching USD149.-. This significant event took countless analysts to predict a world with crude oil at USD 200 a barrel. It wants to achieve energy and raw material sales of 600 and 400M€ per year. Ical/ Valladolid.

The Bioenergy Plan of Castile and León 2008-2020 foresees investments for the value of 1.300 million Euro, to generate 4.500 employments and to reach at the end of the period an annual commercialization of raw materials for the generation of this type of energy of 400 millions and the sale of 600 millions per year of finished products (electricity, heat and biofuel).
